Fruit bread with saffron
Saffron Fruit Bread: Fruit bread with lots of nuts and dried fruit, an absolute classic during advent season, is very tasty and also practical. It is durable for several weeks and it becomes even tastier the longer it rests.
Ingredients for yeast dough (20 slices):
175 ml Milk 150 g Butter 400 g Flour 1 Pack. Dry yeast 100 g Sugar 1 Egg 1 Pinch of salt 0.5 g Saffron |
Ingredients for nut-fruit-mix:
100 g Whole hazelnuts
100 g Halved walnuts
100 g Raisins or dates
100 g Dried fruits
Preparation:
Cut fruits into stripes or cubes at your option. Mix dried yeast and a pinch of salt with flour. Grind saffron in a small mill. Beat soft butter and milk with sugar until foamy. Afterwards, add egg and saffron. When everything is foamy, add fruits and nuts. Sieve flour over it. Mix well all ingredients and fill in a greased baking form. Bake in preheated oven at 170°C top / bottom heat for 60 minutes.
