Saffron Flat Bread
Here we have a centuries old delicious Iranian Pita bread recipe from Gonabad, Iran, for you. There it is still prepared traditionally in a so called Tandoor oven. A Tandoor is a cylindrical stone oven, heated by fire from the bottom. One sticks the dough around the inner stone wall until it is done. But also in common ovens a great result can be achieved. Already the smell of the fresh baked bread and its spices will convince you!
Ingredients: Dough: 500 g Wheat Flour 320 ml Water 1 Pck. Yeast 1 teasp. Salt

Sauce: 1 – 2 Onions 1 tablesp. Savory 1 tablesp. Black Cumin 100 g Yoghurt 0.5 g Saffron

Preparation:
(1) Put ingredients for the dough in a large bowl and mix them until you get a smooth but not too sticky dough. Afterwards, form a ball and let the covered dough rest for about 30 minutes.
(2) Form big round flat breads with a height of approx. 1cm. Now, cut onions coarsely and add them t the mixer together with the other ingredients for the sauce. Mix everything until you have an even mixture. Coat flat bread with the sauce and bake it in the oven.

Baking time: approx. 50 Minutes
